History of American Paper & Twine Co.: A Tradition of Trust

American Paper & Twine Company’s tradition of trust began over 85 years ago in 1926 when two young men, Nathan Doochin and Milton Lockenbach, saw an opportunity to create a niche in the expanding Nashville wholesale market.  Eighty-five years later, American Paper & Twine has become a leader in the wholesale distribution of office, packaging, janitorial and food service products. What began in 1926 with a $500 investment, three employees, and one delivery truck, has grown over the years to encompass five distribution centers, a fleet of trucks delivering throughout the Southeast, and a large professional staff trained to help answer any of your questions.

American Paper has more than 40 sales representatives and 30 customer service representatives that cover its distribution network, which encompasses the bulk of the Southeastern, United States. With its corporate office in Nashville, TN, American Paper’s distribution network is supported with regional offices and distribution centers in Chattanooga, TN, Memphis, TN, Knoxville, TN and Little Rock, AR.  Additionally, American Paper services the needs of national accounts through our membership in Network Services - a national buying and marketing group comprised of the leading Janitorial Supply/Paper distributors throughout the country. We are also members of American Office Product Distributors (A.O.P.D) – the world’s largest network distributor of office products which allows us to service our national office supply accounts. With Network Services and AOPD, American Paper is able to offer its special brand of local service, nationwide.
