American Paper & Twine Announces Acquisition of RMJ Distributing Co.

February 25, 2020 (Nashville, TN) - American Paper & Twine, the region’s largest independently owned wholesale distributor of packaging materials, food service disposables, janitorial products, and office supplies, today announced it has acquired RMJ Distributing Co. located in Johnson City, TN.

“We are excited to bring RMJ under the umbrella of American Paper & Twine,” said Bob Doochin, American Paper & Twine President. “In addition to being a privately owned wholesale distributor like us, they have the same commitment to customer service excellence that drives everything we do.”

RMJ Distributing Co. owner Mickey Jilton has decided to step down from the successful business he has led since 1976 so that he can work alongside his daughter at her business, Vintage Jewelry Supply. RMJ long-term employee, Richard Kyker will join American Paper & Twine to help with the transition and grow our market share in the Tri-Cities area. “We look forward to welcoming Richard and RMJ customers to the APT family,” said American Paper & Twine Vice President Karen Doochin Vingelen. “Our mission is to enable success for our customers by delivering remarkable at every turn. We can’t wait to share our passion for making our customers successful by adding our value in big and small ways.”

“RMJ customers can count on the same level of superior, local service and broad product offering they came to expect from Mickey and Richard,” added Mark Wright, American Paper & Twine Senior Vice President. He continued, “as our customer base grows and our footprint expands, we are dedicated to making investments that help us provide the best value and exceptional service to businesses in the areas we serve.”

The purchase of RMJ Distributing Co. comes on the heels of the company’s recent completion of a new distribution facility in Muscle Shoals, AL,
